Starrett manufacturing and partners working together to support the NHS Nightingale hospital Birmingham.

Starrett UK are proud to play a part in supporting the unprecedented and swift response in the construction of the new NHS Nightingale Hospital at the NEC in Birmingham.

Interserve Construction recently announced the handover of the new hospital to the NHS to help treat COVID-19 patients. A selection of Starrett’s cutting tools, hole saws and arbors were supplied to help in the construction of the build including lighting installation, data trunking and containment installation. This was made possible through our partners and customers, including Hellermann Tyton and Edmundson Electrical who have ensured that suitable products are available in these difficult times.

The numbers speak for themselves…

  • 86,000 construction hours worked (24hrs per day!)
  • 400 employees and contractors on site
  • 64 miles of electrical cable laid
  • Over 13 miles of bed bays if laid end to end
  • Flooring to cover 11.5 football pitches
  • Over 10 miles of copper piping installed
  • All of this achieved whilst maintaining social distancing rules!
